Carolyn brings a valuable combination of wisdom, curiosity and enthusiasm to her chaplaincy. She has 'people' skills, theological grounding, reflective capacity and professional commitment necessary for chaplaincy practice. Waverley Abbey Contemporary Chaplaincy tutor said: ' … and have every confidence in her future as a healthcare chaplain'.


Carolyn articulates a chaplaincy philosophy that is universal and open to all, rooted in genuine respect for the thoughts and beliefs of others. She is comfortable in her own Christian faith, recognising her affinity for the direct teaching of Jesus. This theological confidence, combined with openness, allows her to create truly inclusive sacred space. Herr approach to chaplaincy is not the imposing of religious frameworks but as the offering of presence, compassion and spiritual companionship that honours each person's unique journey.

Educated at Notre Dame College of Education - gaining a Bachelor of Education Degree in Religious Studies and History. She graduated in 1980. Then followed Two years teaching in Nigeria as a volunteer with the Notre Dame Sisters from 1981-1983.

Seven years teaching in Newton Stewart, Dumfries and Galloway - having been promoted to Senior Teacher from 1984 until 1991
Then 11 years teaching in Maxwelltown High School, Dumfries - as Principal Teacher of Religious, Moral and Social Education: March 1991- September 2002. followed by Supply Teaching in Ayrshire : October 2002 - January 2013. Carolyn then spent at time Caring for family members. This led to Two years training with the One Spirit Interfaith Foundation: 2021 - 2023 and 6 months working as a Volunteer in Spiritual Care in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Glasgow: October 2023 - March 2024
1 year training with Waverley Abbey College in Contemporary Chaplaincy - January 2025 till Feb. 11th, 2026.
Including as a Volunteer/ stand in Coordinator with the Charity, Town Break Dementia Services: which is ongoing.

Carolyn Served at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Stirling - from 2005 till July 2020. and Served at Holy Trinity, Episcopal Church, Stirling - from 2023 - 2025.


Carolyn says: 'I have been brought up Catholic - A Catholic Mum and Anglican Dad. I've been educated in a Catholic sector until the end of my Degree.  All my life I have had the deep desire to be a Priest. I tried Religious Life but knew my heart lay in the Priesthood. However, the Roman Catholic Church do not allow women to have that Ministry. So I lived out that desire through my best friend who was a Missionary Catholic Priest.
In 2021 I found One Spirit Interfaith and became an Interfaith Minister. I have a great love and respect for all Faith Paths but my meaning, purpose, value - the grounding of my life - lies in the heart of Christianity.
After Graduating with One Spirit, I wanted to explore Chaplaincy but with a Christian dimension.. I have just finished studying with Waverley Abbey College on February 11th, '26.
I tried to go forward in the Episcopal Church asking to be considered for the Diaconate but without an outcome.
As part of my Chaplaincy Placement, I am working with people with Dementia housed in the local Stirling Hospital - recently as a co-coordinator and mostly as a volunteer - with Town Break Dementia Services.

I have been PVG checked by Town Break Dementia Services and with the Church for Pastoral visits.
I was ordained by One Spirit Interfaith Foundation in 2023.
I have been a lay reader and made pastoral visits.
