Revd. Rodrigo-Germán Araya de Castila BA,
Rodrigo-Germán Araya de Castila serves in Farsta, Stockholm, Sweden.
He is a chaplain and ministers in a prayerful and encouraging ministry; he does not presently hold sacramental worship.
Ordained Deacon by Bishop Anders Holmwall of the Allmänna Apostoliska Kyrkan
which is part of The Independent Old Catholic Church of America. He was ordained in 2007 at Stockholm.
Rodrigo-Germán is a midwife, and works at a hospital in Stockholm and prior to that was a nurse working with those with HIV/AIDS. He has taken courses in leadership and sexology for his profession and has held an elected political position at the local municipal level with the Green Party (Miljöpartiet).
Rodrigo-Germán says: "My brother and I have a one-hour music program on a local radio station, Radio Sydväst 88.9 FM Stockholm. I am Chilean and have lived in Sweden since I was 11 years old. I speak Swedish and Spanish. I studied half of the theology program at Umeå University, 1.5 years. I have studied Islam and a short course in religious studies at Uppsala University. I have also studied Latin and Biblical studies as well as theology at Miami International Seminary, Seminario Teológico Reformado (in Spanish), and Dallas Seminary.
I realized that at the hospital we help patients clinically but not in the spiritual aspect. Especially
during night shifts, I encountered many patients who were struggling in their souls. My work has
always been close to life and death. First with AIDS, and now with the new lives that come into the
world".
