Clergy Licencing
Clergy
of the Old
Catholic Apostolic Church for the most part serve as part-time and
unpaid (non-stipended) and are dispersed throughout the dioceses and
nations. That makes the church a voluntary organisation, and indeed by
the church constitution we are forbidden to receive or give money.
However, in order to ensure standards and discipline - particularly
around safeguarding, the church 'licences' clergy. The licence allows monitoring of ministerial activity, and appropriate direction to prevent the clergy person being engaged in a ministry that
might be inappropriate due to past history for example, or lack of experience in a certain, or a set of situations, or when there is a need for additional training or oversight.
