At school he was asked what he wanted to be and he said an Anaesthetist and a Priest but he was told he could only do one. He trained in St Thomas Hospital London as an anaesthetist, however he then felt a call from God to go into the Ministry which was in the Church of England rather than Baptist or Pentecostal. He went to Coventry cathedral where he developed the International Reconciliation Centre and later went to serve at St George's in Baghdad.
As the Vicar of Baghdad he was key in stopping the Bethlehem Siege and helped with stopping violence against Christians in Baghdad and Iraq. Canon White left Baghdad in 20l4 when Justin Welby, the Archbishop of Canterbury, said that it was too dangerous for him to stay in Iraq.

He has written numerous books including: People of Promise, Land of Despair, Faith under Fire, Glory in the War Zone & many others.
